TechTip: Outlook signatures for Plain Text/Rich Text/HTML emails

When you create a signature in Outlook using Tools --> Options --> Mail Format --> Signatures menu (using the default HTML format), the same signature will be automatically converted and applied for Plain Text and Rich Text formats. This may not be the behaviour you want, especially considering that the Rich Text signature uses default font instead of your formatting for some reason, which ends up looking quite awkward usually.

To edit each individual signature, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures where you will see 3 separate files (one for each signature format: .txt - Plain Text, .rtf - Rich Text, .htm - HTML). Just edit those files to your liking and you will have your signatures looking professional even if someone sends you a Rich Text email.
